Hi! I'm Jenna Huffman
I received my dog training certification in 2010 and have been focused on dogs and dog behavior ever since. I am a certified trainer through the Animal Behavior College and the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. I spent 5 years working in shelters with all different breeds, sizes, and behavior issues. I am a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, an Animal Behavior College Mentor, and I am a Fear Free Certified Professional through Fear Free Pets.
I love dogs and I want to see every dog in a happy and loving household. My goal as a trainer is to teach you how to train your dog in a positive and effective way.
My Inspiration
You don't always get the dog you want, sometimes you get the dog that needs you.
Ares was my heart dog and I owe my career, and so much more, to her. I got my dog Ares as a puppy when I was 19 years old. I was living alone in my first apartment and she followed my boyfriend home. We tried to find her owners but no one claimed her. I decided to keep her because she was adorable and sweet. As she grew it became apparent that she had some behavior issues I was not prepared for. She had very high anxiety and reactivity.
I searched for trainers but at the time could only find trainers that advocated for force and dominance training. This only made my poor dog worse! In her first 3 years of life she attacked 2 dogs and bit 3 different people.
It was then that I decided I had to find a better way. I searched for training schools and found my calling as a dog trainer. Ares, through positive training methods, was able to live a long and happy life. She passed away in 2018 due to health problems at 16 years of age.
